Standing up for transparency, due process, and our community

Friends of the CDFGPA is an initiative formed by devoted life members, dedicated volunteers, and concerned members of the Courtenay and District Fish & Game Protective Association. We are committed to sharing vital information, defending statutory member rights, and restoring open accountability to our beloved society in Courtenay, British Columbia.

Why we were compelled to step forward

During the December 2024 board elections for 2025, a serious breach of member privacy occurred. Rather than addressing the issue responsibly, leadership—with the sole exception of the secretary—chose to disregard it entirely. This led to formal complaints lodged under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC). In reaction, the board launched retaliatory disciplinary proceedings contrary to their own Bylaws and the BC Societies Act, issuing unjust suspensions without due process and withholding details of alleged infractions.

Our mission for the society

Our clear purpose is to rescind all illegitimate discipline and suspensions, ensure complete operational and procedural transparency for every member, and restore the Courtenay and District Fish & Game Protective Association to its former glory. Because we lack direct communication channels to the full membership roll, this grassroots initiative exists to ensure that every individual has access to honest facts and constitutional safeguards.

Stay informed and get involved

Every member deserves a voice and the protection of basic governance standards. We encourage all members to stay engaged by following our regular briefings, exploring member perspectives, and reaching out directly with questions, documentation, or personal experiences. Together, we can restore fairness, integrity, and respect to our association.

"Our society was built on camaraderie, conservation, and fairness. Restoring open governance and due process is the only way forward."
