Understanding your rights as a member
Every member of the Courtenay and District Fish & Game Protective Association deserves fairness, openness, and clear communication. Learn how the Societies Act and our club bylaws are designed to safeguard your standing, protect due process, and ensure total governance transparency.

Full transparency and governance under the law
The single most vital right belonging to every member is full, unobstructed transparency. Under the British Columbia Societies Act—notably Section 70—members possess clear rights regarding records, accounting, and institutional decisions. When administrative decisions occur behind closed doors without disclosure, the foundation of our democratic non-profit society is undermined.

Unlawful disciplinary actions and lost due process
Recent events within the CDFGPA demonstrate how the denial of fundamental rights damages our community. Dedicated life members have faced suspensions without proper due process as mandated by both the CDFGPA bylaws, the BC Societies Act and provincial law. Disciplinary action taken contrary to statutory principles denies members their basic right to be heard and treated fairly.

Official bylaws, Section 70, and reaching out for support
We are dedicated to circulating copies of Section 70 of the Societies Act, the CDFGPA bylaws, and relevant club policies so that all members understand their legal standing. If you suspect your rights have been violated, or you need guidance on challenging improper disciplinary measures, please email us directly at info@cdfgpafriends.ca for advice, anonymity and solidarity.
